Due to the combination of high contents of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and copper, stainless steel 904L pipes and tubes exhibits greater resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion and to general corrosion in reducing acids. These Stainless Steel 904L Tubes are mainly used where the corrosion resistant properties of SS 316L and SS 317L are inadequate, especially in severe corrosive conditions.
When compared to 2205 grade duplex stainless steel, ASTM B677 904L Seamless Pipes has similar corrosion resistant properties but lower mechanical strength. Grade 2205 is also a lower cost option compared to WNR 1.4539 Tubes but is not suitable for temperatures above 300°C. Meanwhile, our Seamless 904L Pipes and Tubings are widely used for manufacturing tanks, vessels, piping, heat exchangers, and other equipment used for handling sulphuric, phosphoric and acetic acids, bleaching operations in the pulp and paper industry.
